Wainwright archivist and author Chris Butterfield will explore the remarkable story behind Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk.
This illustrated talk, along with rare film footage, examines how Wainwright devised his famous long-distance walking route and created the accompanying guidebook, A Coast to Coast Walk, first published by the Westmorland Gazette in 1973. It also explores why the route has become one of Britain’s best-loved long-distance walks, achieving National Trail status in 2026.
